Tactics are, by definition, about effectiveness. They are also about efficiency.
But there is also beauty in tactics.
Probably for most people the spectacular moments in football belong to the players. It can be a shot, a dribble, a sliding tackle, a goalkeeper dive etc. While those can be very entertaining, to me the beauty of football is in tactics.
I find it fascinating that tactics are somehow hidden in plain sight. Because there are 22 players moving at the same time, and there is also the ball – which usually gets all the attention of the viewers, many times the viewers only see the result of a tactical action, but miss the intricacies of it. They miss the tactical beauty of it. With this blog, I want to showcase some of that beauty.
This blog is about tactics as a thing of beauty.
